You Prune, You Grow, Let Go

I remember a friend telling me her tomato plants weren’t producing much.
I went into her garden and all you could see was an endless series of green vines.
The plant looked healthy but not one single red tomato to be had.
I told her “we need to prune this thing back all the energy is going to the green and nothing to the fruit.”
Like a surgeon I started pruning.
She was nervously making noise like she was in pain as I hacked away at her precious plants.
A few weeks later she called to tell me she had dozens of tomatoes and they were growing larger and turning red.
Everything needs to be cutback in order to grow better and produce more.
Whether it’s our lives, our businesses or things about our relationships, without pruning, precious energy is wasted.
That’s what’s happening in our government right now. Elon Musk and his Musketeers are like master gardeners, hacking away at what on the outside, to some, might look like needed vegetation but in reality, they are needless sprouts taking energy away from a potentially healthy plant.
Like my friend, naysayers, stand on the sideline screaming stop the madness when in fact the true madness is to just let it keep growing and going nowhere.
I hear plenty of armchair quarterbacks, who have never grown a successful garden, sitting on the sidelines criticizing the way the proven master gardener goes about his work.
It’s easy to fear change and allow plants to grow without pruning.
But perhaps the sideline folks need to stand down, let the pruning continue, and give the master gardener the chance to prove himself.
He’s done it before and is one of the most successful businessmen in the world……and you are going to tell him what?
