I Can’t Stop Thinking About Wicked

The movie “Wicked” haunts me in many ways.

The story of a green girl, who doesn’t fit in, has magical powers but because she won’t use those powers to control people, the people behind the power, behind the curtain, the manipulators of culture, label her wicked.

It’s what happens to a lot of us for standing up for the truth, yes as we see it.

What haunts me is how easily groups of people can be controlled and manipulated when a lie is repeatedly used to spin a lie.

We experienced this with the reaction to COVID. The entire world was shutdown and we now know, or some of us do, the science points out that the manipulators went overboard.

We see this with those of us who have more conservative leanings in politics.

Republicans, and I’m not a fan of that party or any party, for years have been belittled and marginalized.

And then there’s Donald Trump. His opponents hounded him for years, and still do, with the same old lies and accusations that most of which have been proven to be lies.

Deceit is a monster, a powerful monster. What is scary to me is how easily people who like to call themselves progressive, buy into this stuff and even when there’s evidence to prove them wrong, hang on to the bitter end.

I was reading where all these Hollywood stars who promised they’d leave the country if Trump won are still…..in the country.

Everyday a new lie is exposed, turned over and revealed for the ugliness that it is.

But still, the hardcore anti folks hold on to their messages that are disproven.

I read something this morning from one of my favorite books.

“for this our light and transitory burden of suffering is achieving for us a weight of glory.”

It’s a reminder to hold on tightly to the robe of our God.  It’s a reminder to me not to get sucked into (which if often do) the battle of words and understand, in time, God is exposing the lies and will rip away the curtain and show the lies for what they are…..pure evil.
