When You Are True To Yourself...Lookout

When You Do You, People Leave

Sponsored by CrisDental/Eugene

I’m flying home from Texas thinking about how much my life is consistently changing.

When I worked in television I didn’t have a lot of haters.

Why? That wasn’t really me they saw in the box called a television, it was the guy they wanted to see.

I worked at presenting a me that straddled the line.

The Rick Dancer TV guy had to create an image that sold ratings and boosted his feeble ego.

The more I fail the more authentic I become.

The more “me” I find and expose, the more the haters surface.

I get comments from people who tell me how much they used to like me when I was Mr TV.

They don’t like me anymore because….we disagree.

The joke is, they didn’t really like me they liked what I showed them, what made them comfortable, what was culturally acceptable.

I get told not to be so political, religious or honest.

Experts tell me to ride the center where life is safe.

What these folks don’t understand is I can’t.

Once you discover what is you, what you truly believe, how do you go back?

Why would you want to?

When you taste a lie and see where it can take you, hopefully you’re smart enough to run the other direction and I do mean run.

I know I was born for a time like this.

My executive editor is also a creator.

Actually He is Thee creator.

I’m not going back.

I can’t be your Rick Dancer.

So, if I’m not your cup of tea you are free to move on.

I’m 64 years old and destroying myself is a major focus of my life…..now.

Sounds dangerous?

Oh it’s deadly.

We live in a world full of stuck, unhappy, bored people.

I can’t live in that space anymore.

You with me?

I'm with y'all., Rick. I'm a take me for what I am or leave me kind of manl. I am who I am.....in short, a very old fashioned cowboy/woodworker/Christian/family man/political conservative. That's how God made me and it is to His standards I hold and grow in. - M
