The Return of Common Sense.
Many in the progressive side of the political spectrum don’t seem to understand why some of us who consider ourselves more middle of the road or conservative, feel hopeful for the future.
It’s hard to explain. For decades the tide had been turning dark blue but this past election turned darkish red.
It’s frustrating to be over-shadowed, silenced, bullied and belittled for your ideas.
20-years ago the far left pretended to listen but in places like my home state of Oregon, each election your vote became less and less important and the ideology of the hour became more extreme and its backers more brazen and pushy.
We basically lost our voice. The reaction to COVID pushed many of the moderates to the right. People who had been a sleep at the wheel suddenly found their rights being trampled and were being told it was okay to trample on freedom. We were told it was fair for a biological man to play on a woman’s sports team. And then you gave us pronouns and told us we had to use them or we’d be canceled. On November 5th we collectively told you what we thought of your ideas.
We watched the lies and manipulation. We witnessed the weaponization of agencies like the DOJ and the FBI go after those who disagree with the way you see the word.
The media bias hit us head-on as we found other more reliable sources of information and the awakening happened. Facts matter, facts change minds, facts is what tossed your ideology into a tailspin.
DEI is falling apart. Reverse racism is a thing and no matter how you try to spin it, we won’t unsee it. The big tech companies are coming around to see even they overstepped. Boeing just got rid of its DEI program as are institutions and corporations all over this country.
Numbers matter and on November 5th the tide turned like a tsunami.
I hear folks screaming for unity and I believe that’s the direction we need to go. But remember, we saw what you did and trusting you won’t be easy. The old line “give em an inch and they’ll take a mile” comes to mind.
You woke up a lion and it’s gonna take some time to find that middle ground and I think we will.
But remember Freedom is not negotiable. Censorship is, to us, our biggest enemy and we will not go back. Fair and square matters and we will not be silenced again.
The progressive arm of the Democrat party seems to think it knows what’s best for everyone and to Hell with anyone who thinks differently.
That would be called arrogance and that attitude is what got us here.
What I’m saying is we want to work together with you but you must change your tactics, understand your way or the highway doesn’t fly and we have a majority on our side.
Kamala and her followers used to chant, “we won’t go back.” I guess I find something I can agree with them on. We will not go back.
