Time For A New Story

Writer: Rick DancerRick Dancer

Time for a new story

I think it’s time we pen a new story.

Yes, the world is in an uproar but really when isn’t it?

I’m a big believer in the idea that our lives are a story that we co-author with God.

Think of Him as the ultimate editor/producer.

He lays out the format but you work with Him to create an interesting life.

Your story will include villains, every good story has them.

There’s an aspect of good and evil in every good novel why should your story be any different.

As with any rewrite, you must be willing to take your story in directions you never planned.

Kathy and I had a templet for how our story was going to go but yesterday, circumstances we can’t control put a twist in that plan.

As I’m writing a note to my co-editor (God) this morning He says “What if this was the direction I had planned the whole time?” “Rick, this is the adventure!”

We have choices, we can go with the editors suggested plan or we can go our own way. After 65 years on this earth I’m learning His direction is usually the right one but I still, sometimes fight it. His is also never the easy trail and always involves hard choices, giving things up so that better things can be given to you.

The enemy of our soul hates adventurous stories.

He would just as soon we take the easy way out because mundane is the first step to the dark place of authoritarianism.

What he wants is to control you and your life.

The best way to do that is get you all comfy, fat and satisfied in the gluteny of “the so-called good life.”

Once there, he can keep you silent, bored and let you live your life out impacting nothing or no-one .

The world wants us silenced.

When we ask questions it threatens the status-quo.

It’s hard not to look at the world right now and see how desperate the enemy of our soul is to stop us from creating something better.

You are not crazy.

When up is down and right is wrong it’s God tapping you on the shoulder saying “this is not the story you want to be in, stand up.”

Get out a pen and paper or a computer screen and start creating an outline.

It doesn’t have to be a big project or lots of writing.

This is to get you thinking about what you really want in life.

On our death beds, when we are three breaths away from meeting God what will we remember most about the story of our life?

Will it be the time we shut up or will it be the time we risked everything and fought for what was right?

Will we remember the nasty comments on  social media from people we don’t even respect or like or will it be the kindness shown to us by people who really knew our soul?

This is our moment.

We were created for a time and a battle such as this.

Will you be a wimp or a warrior?

I see a warrior.

Okay, get out your weapon, a pen and a journal and start writing.
