Spiritual Blindness: The Dark Cloud Hanging Over America

A Spiritual Blindness

I don’t do this very often but feel compelled to write from my faith based perspective.

Actually, for me, my faith is an integral part of everything I believe and only in our current culture must those of us who adhere to a faith, feel the need to soften it for the mass’.

And these are my opinions and yours may differ and that is fine but if you comment state what you believe without ridicule or judgement, I’m just so tired of people thinking they are the only one’s with the answers and those who feel the need to attack rather than discuss. Just state your opinion, I’m not looking to debate anything.

But as the world hardens it causes my softness to becomes more firm.

So here it goes.

I see the contradictions in our world today and wonder how can people not see this?

What seems so obvious is not to some.

But it’s not because the information is not out there.

It’s not the media’s fault although "the Press" also suffers from the ailment I’m about to think through.

There is a spiritual blindness that has fallen over the land.

This morning I looked up “Bible Verses on Blindness” and to my surprise there are dozens.

Romans 8:7

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law: indeed , it cannot.

Romans 2:8

But for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

1 John 2;11

But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Let’s keep this simple and to the point.

In my world/spiritual walk, God is in charge of everything.

He blinds the unrighteous so how could they see the contradictions?

Self-seeking rulers who fail to follow the laws of the land are not obeying truth but creating their own.

You disobey the laws and walk in lies, blindness is the result.

Unfortunately when our leaders go down, we go with them.

If you hate, and oh how culture hates right now, you walk in darkness because light will not partner with hate and the result a spiritual blindness.

It is so frustrating to see liars and cheaters winning the war of words but I believe that is changing and changing rapidly.

I don’t believe a party will save us from such folly.

I don’t think Republicans are any more righteous that Democrats.

Corrupt power brings blindness and in my view God is cleaning house, closing eyes, opening others and looking for people seek who seek the truth, not some cultural blurring of lines.

We are to have compassion for those who hate us.

I’m not very good at that.

We are to love those who try to bludgeon us with words and deeds.

I’m not very good at that either.

But we are also called to stand up for the truth and in doing so the truth will set us free.

It may be time to rub culture the wrong way and toughen up spiritually.

When athletes “toughen up” they pay closer attention to diet and exercise.

A strong spiritual workout means what you put in your soul is vital.

Exercise amounts to prayer and spending time with your creator.

Don’t look back and don’t look sided to side.

Keep your eyes looking forward in an upward (horizon) position.

And when the blind scream and yell to get your attention, don’t be distracted.

He’s got you.

It’s all part of His plan.
