Now You Want To Talk?

A Letter To A Detractor

Someone made a comment on my social media telling me basically it’s my job to build a bridge between left and right.

But in order to do that I must stop stirring the pot.

It started off nice but by the end the writers bias and lack of real information was obvious.

These folks are obsessed with what happened January 6th but have no remorse for the BLM riots that destroyed even more property, lives and caused more serious injuries and deaths.

I hate vandalism and violence but they seem to only hate it when it fits their narrative.

I am no longer a newsman, whatever that is anymore.

I’m a man who does his homework, forms an opinion and shares it.

What I think really scares the detractors is there are a lot of us out there and we feel the same way and it’s not the way they feel. They’re scared of our voices and I’m fine with that. They should be if status quo is where they want to go.

Anytime a little mistake of misstep happens in our current leadership the legacy media and the detractors come a running.

It’s like a feeding frenzy.

They say nothing or little about the positives but one thing happens that they don’t understand, let the games begin.

The detractors do everything to can to stop change.

The detractors won’t admit they were wrong. Wrong about COVID, defunding the police, how they handled crime, studies that now show natural gas is not harmful to the environment and on and on.

In this comment the person went on to say how we need to find common ground. How do we find something in common when you aren’t willing to admit you were wrong so we can have a landing pad to start on?

As a man who believes what I believe and have good reason for it, you want a “come together moment” where you arrive at the table with the right answers (in your mind) and I’m the one who needs convincing that I’m wrong.

Those who think more like me have lived with this for decades and are done.

I know you don’t see this because arrogance keeps you from imagining that you could be the one who is misled.

The big problem for the detractors is the public see’s where the last four years got us and is rejecting the hollow messaging from media and maniacs.

When I ask questions detractors call it “Stirring the pot, gaslighting or inciting people.”  But when they ask it’s trying to get to the truth. What a joke.

If the hardliners want the American people to follow them come up with a message that isn’t hate.

Find something the American people can get behind because climate change, transgender issues and abortion aren’t gonna cut it. We need more substance and less of your indoctrination.

When surveyed, those issues are of some importance to people but what they really want right now is an economy that works, better healthcare and a strong border, among other things.

Many are leaving the detractors. They, like the majority of us, truly believe in democracy, fairness, and freedom.

So back to the letter. It is not my job to stop talking about the concerns many of us have because it makes you uncomfortable. Rather than trying to silence me and my neighbors try listening to what we’re saying not changing our minds. Oh, and consider, just for one moment that it may be you who is wrong. I know, what a silly thing to say. LOL

Listening is not their strong suit Rick. If they truly listened, they would not still be focusing on genders, climate, and Trump. Rather, they would have heard the voices of the American People, a majority of them, and realize the things they are focused on are not the focus of the people. Yes, there used to be a middle ground, however, that ended with Obama. There is no longer dialogue, but diatribes. There is not long civil discourse, but civil unrest and the stoking of the fires that create it. Can we achieve that again? Perhaps, however, that will require a desire to change, think independently, and truly wish to find that commonality. Yes, I believe it is possi…
