Looking For A Reason To Laugh

Writer: Rick DancerRick Dancer

Striving For Laughter

Do you find it hard to really laugh anymore?

I’m not talking about a good feeling I’m talking about a good old belly laugh. Me Too.

In a world full of noise and confusion, how do we find time for something as important and simple as joy?

Back in Oregon many parts of the state are flooding. It’s difficult to laugh when your property is underwater and your home threatened as the waters rise.

I think that picture was taken probably ten years ago.

Maybe we were still a bit naive. We hadn’t gone through COVID, we knew our political world was in shambles, but we expected that and had no idea how corrupt the system really was, until now.

A mass group of us passed over the threshold of what if’s and into the world of, it’s really true. Once you get outside the matrix, it’s hard to go back.

I see the character attacks online and wish I could be the old Rick Dancer.

But then I see how many of us are out here questioning, digging for information and the changes being made because we are facing problems head-on, and I know this is what it is and how it must be.

The rough seas we are experiencing right now will pass but I believe the storm will grow more fierce first.

Years ago I had a dream where I was sitting in a rubber raft, in the middle of a turbulent sea, waves crashing over me as I cried out to God for help. I had no oar, no vision of land, it was just me, God and the storm. I asked God for an oar, He said “No, if I give you an oar you will simply exhaust yourself rowing around and around in circles.” Instead He said “grab onto the oar handles and hold on for dear life. Keep your eyes focused on me not the storm you are in.”

The idea was to weather the storm not fight it. Hunker down and keep your focus on Him.

“This too shall pass” are the four words circling around in my head.

When I remember those words I feel a smile starting to form on my face.

As I think of the rest of you, doing the same thing, I get closer to a full on laugh.

This is not a battle of flesh and blood but one in an unseen world of the principalities and powers of darkness.

It’s not us and them, right or left, conservative or liberal.

That’s what they want us to believe.

Hunker down, love those you can, enjoy the people around you and you may just find a reason to smile again.
