Educate & Agitate: Public Lands Take Back

Educate and Agitate: Take Back Our Public Lands

I attended a timber conference this week to get myself up to date on what’s happening in terms of timber legislation in our nation.

As most of us who suffer through smoke filled Summers know, what we are currently doing is not working.

We have folks who claim to be environmentalists destroying our ecosystem.

We are losing rural communities, not in the name of correcting alleged climate change, but to an ideology that wants humans out of the forest.

The public lands in America belong to you and me… too.

We should have a say in how they are managed and when mismanaged should have more power to have our desires heard.

I sat in a room filled with folks who make a living taking care of our forests.

They’ve been painted out to be land destroyers when in fact they are the exact opposite and like most propaganda, the true perpetrators are the ones creating the false narrative.

Right now, because of the way laws are written, you and I, the taxpayers, are actually paying for these anti-timber groups to go to court. I’m not kidding.

We are paying for them to keep us out of OUR forests and it needs to stop.

Their misinformation and demonization of the Timber Industry is not working for the public, the economy, rural America or, get this, the environment.

But they don’t care because their real goal is not what’s good to create a healthy forest the goal is to lock up the land, close the roads so we have no access to the land, and in the process we’re burning up our forests.

Bridge Of The gods

What needs to happen POV is we need to educate and agitate.

Once you and I understand what’s really going on, we then need to stand up to our elected officials and these groups to take back our public lands.

There’s a new energy in the room.

The health of our forest is so bad status quo won’t work.

Neither will turning our heads and trying to ignore what’s going on.

There’s new leadership.

We have the first president in decades who is actually making timber management an issue.

Our culture likes to push farm to table and buying local.

But when it comes to growing tree’s, we’ve allowed imported lumber and locked up the timber right here in our backyard.

We manage timber better than any country in the world.

News Flash…Timber is a crop.

So why are will buying it from outside sources who don’t take environmental standards as strongly as we do?

It’s time you and I take back our public lands.

These groups have a say, you bet, but so do we.

Let’s let forest managers, industry experts and science, in on the conversation and get the courts out of it.

Yeh, follow the science? Seems we’ve heard that before huh.
