Time For America To Get Serious About Our Health
I hear the stats as the flu and other “virus” begin to rise, as they do this time of year.
I see what the government advises and wonder: “Why doesn’t anyone talk about the health of our nation?”
Perhaps the reason people are so susceptible to virus’ is because we don’t take care of ourselves.
We know one of the biggest factors to dying from virus’ is obesity.
So it seems to me this is a perfect opportunity to do a nationwide public health campaign.
We are a nation of pills and quick fixes but learned over the past few years, quick rarely works and really only makes us feel better and does nothing to change habits and attitudes.
We’ve known what reduces our risk and yet still we didn’t prepare.
It’s not too late.
Rather than fear something dive and and do it.
This is a perfect opportunity to look at what we eat, how we eat, exercise, joining a gym, taking a walk and so on.
The best part is it won’t only protect us from flu’s and virus’s but it can also reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and other co-morbidities to our health.
The best part is we don’t have to wait for the government to step in or a prescription we can get up today, start over and truly protect ourselves and our communities.
Which begs the question “Why doesn’t the Government take action and do something?” But that’s another blog, another story, another time.

Things like health class (not just sex ed and social desires), real PE that improved physical stamina and taught lifelong habits and outdoor skills, AG class that taught about where your food comes from, gardening and farm to table practices, Home EC and how to prep and make healthy meals and live healthy, outdoor school skills and etc. These things all dovetailed into one another to educate and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Now, a fast paced and unhealthy lifestyle, processed foods and big pharma…
I have often agreed with you and your views, however, this time I must take issue. First, calling for government to step in? Sorry, but government has no place in this issue. Second, I have battled weight my entire life. I have dieted, exercised, has a gastric sleeve all of which have failed. At some point you just say screw it and enjoy the life you have. Third, people often look at those who have weight issues and assume they are lazy Neer do wells, which is ignorance, and sad. Fourth, it is their life and their decisions, decisions have consequences, theirs not yours. Please do not come back with "we all pay for their bad decisions". Fifth, …
