Standing Up For What's Right Matters

I’m reading a book on the Salem Witch Hunts and quite frankly it’s not that much different from what we see happening in the Un-United States today.
If I’d read this book five years ago I probably would not have related to it much at all.
Each page turned would have been one of those moments I said, “Man you’ve got to be kidding.”
What bothers me most about all of this is people are not speaking up.
They seem to be afraid to rock the boat, anger their opposition or make waves.
The cost of such apathy is our country is quickly turning into something it was not meant to be.
I’m shocked at the number of people who just don’t pay attention.
It’s as if we ignore what’s going on it will all go away.
It’s not going away.
What is disappearing is our right to speak freely, to offer ideas, to disagree and to do all of that in a civil manner.
The other day I read a verse from a very famous book that talked about times such as these.
It spoke of a time when good is evil, when right becomes wrong, when people become blind to truth and latch onto what is a lie and believe it.
We must not be afraid to piss people off. We don’t need to go out and try to make them mad but their madness should not be our concern when it comes to standing up for our neighbor, each other and most of all the truth.
Ignorance is alive and well in the un-United States of America.
Our current leadership tickles the ears of its few followers but has the power of the media behind it and many are just too lazy and fearful to do their homework to find the truth.
If I hear one more person say “I just don’t want to get involved” I’m gonna a scream.
If we don’t collectively stop the madness one day it will be you who is on the hot seat and who is going to speak up for you?
There will be no one left.
So stop worrying about what people will say.
There is no such thing as a stupid question.
Don’t be afraid of being wrong because chances are the only thing “Wrong” with how you think is it doesn’t line up with the current, twisted narrative.
"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me." —Martin Niemöller
This is why I speak out when Republicans (mostly the extreme right-wing Republicans) spew their nonsense...
I think I've read that Book as well. 😁
