A New Path In The Wilderness

Prepare: New Paths, New Streams in the Deserts.

Isaiah 43:19 which reads, "Behold, I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.".

I woke up with this verse on my mind. Never in my lifetime have I experienced a time where one giant door is slamming shut and another opening as we speak.

Yes, I’m not only talking about my own life but the life of our nation and really the globe.

I don’t listen to much news, just the little top of the hour blurbs that come on the radio station as I’m driving here and there. In Montana you drive a lot so the radio has become my friend. I digress.

So, in terms of the news, I don’t know what the legacy folks are saying accept what I get from comments made in some of the podcasts I listen to.

I have always been a curious guy. I remember working with a photographer who one day said while driving to a story, what makes you good at your job is your curiosity. He said he’d never met anyone who was as curious about everything as I am.

I’ve always been a questioner. I take little at face value and see monsters in the details. In my life as a reporter and beyond I’ve probably interviewed tens of thousands of people. Doing that for a living you get real good at smelling bullshit and seeing honesty.  I’ve heard enough lies in my life that trusting point blank what people say is a rarity. I doubt a lot. I’m not saying all of this is good but it does make me good at what I do. The price we pay for our gifts is often unnoticed until it chokes us. lol.

One of the downsides of being me is I get easily disappointed in people who don’t dig a bit deeper than two inches below the surface. I see the research, hear the pro’s and con’s, and make up my mind. I shouldn’t let that bother me but I do.

The past few years have revealed a real weakness in our culture. The world seems to be far more comfortable allowing someone else to define what they believe than we should be. (yes, in my opinion)  The worldly tend to take the easy road, the more traveled road and refuse to make a path turn, even when the trail they are on makes no sense and has warning signs leading to destruction.

If it comes down to people liking them and fighting for the truth, the latter usually loses.

Culture loves to have its ears tickled. When questioned the managers of the message teach people to silence the questioners. More recently it’s not just silence but destroy those who bring up the “what ifs”.

But I see huge change.

A new thing is coming. In fact, I think it’s already here. A new attitude in America that cancels the cancel culture. A new strength that questions the nonsensicle and is ready for a new path in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
