The Wrong Idea about God
I’ve grown up thinking the reason God forgives me of my sin is because He loves me, now I wonder if that’s not an oversimplification. I read Oswald Chambers this morning and am challenged. I know Sin is not a popular subject with our culture. I understand this could be a huge stumbling block for some of you but the fact is sin separates us from God and sometimes we need to talk about it. What if the only reason God forgives us of our sin is the fact that His son Jesus Christ died on a cross?
Yes, God loves us and yes He sent Christ to die for our sin but what if His forgiveness is only possible because of that death?
For me, this makes so much sense. To believe otherwise almost diminishes the cross and it’s importance.

yeah, what he said! Very nice, Rick and hopefully will make people think.
It's not so much the brutality of God sacrificing his son but rather the unselfish act of Christ yielding his life so he could show us by example… To live is to be carnal and to be carnal is to be tempted by the sins of the flesh, and the pleading with God the father to forgive us as we yet did not know what we were doing was God's Ginsu knife principle… “but wait, there's more!” look beyond the obvious and into God's kingdom of wondrous mysteries.
