Interesting format for the resume, I like it though. If you are shopping around Oregon or the NW odds are after 23 years in the biz and name recognition that should sell itself. Its different than 99.9 percent of the resumes, its an attention grabber which is a good thing. Anything you dont see on the tape i.e pkgs you will see on paper such as all those darn awards. Nice work.

Gents,

I get that this video was done for one specific purpose but don’t you think that you are putting all your eggs in one basket? What’s next if you don’t land the job. Start all over? I really don’t know what a production like this would cost but it was me I know I couldn’t afford to do it over, and over again….
Just another thought.

And I couldn’t have done it with out Lyon Productions (KC) and (DL) who allowed me to be myself. After doing that intro and tag, I would never do news the same way. We used to come up with these stupid scripts that meant nothing to people. The way we did this was turn on the camera, Kevin and Devon talked to me, and we got magic. This is where news is headed. It’s going to be so different in the future. Keep watching cause it’s gonna change.

As Rick said above, the video was developed for a specific program pitch. A hard time limit was placed on the length and it will go along with a written document that contains all the contact info needed. If someone were doing a generic video and posting it to YouTube or something, yeah, contact information would be good to add.

Nathan- Maybe Rick means for you to ask God and then God will speak to Rick and send him over ? I say that as a joke but also saying it because Rick has plenty of technology around him but in many ways seems like a pilgrim on the dusty old Oregon trail in about 1800 or so. If you know me you will know that I mean that as a compliment. I think most tech is yukky. People had so much character in the old days it seems. Rick is overflowing with character.

Rick,

Nice video that you put together. I wanted to be critical here because I know how hard it is to find the “right” job today. If you are saying that you are willing to jump that is great but then you ask us to give you a call. I watched the video 2 times and not one time did I see a way to get back in touch with you. There was no phone number and no email address. Furthermore – I would have a link to an actual paper resume. Sites like Scribd and Google Docs provide this service for free. Might not be a bad idea. Thanks guys. Yeh, Ben this reel wasn’t for a reporting job. It was for a pitch we were doing for the Travel Channel. They don’t want to see my reporting at this point.I wish I could put some of my old stories on this site.
