Living in Unconsciousness
I ended up in church yesterday but it’s not what you think. There was an espresso machine there, doesn’t every church now have some sort of “Coffee Ministry?”
There were lots of chairs but not one pew. There was no one standing up front talking just three people, counting me, dissecting and struggling with the Word of God.
My church happened at Full City following an amazing hike up Mount Pisgah. I’ve never met either of these young people before but I have a feeling we will meet again.
We talked about what living a life for God is like for us. We talked about the fact that church isn’t a building. We talked about prayer and what it is and isn’t.
I walked away from that meeting more convinced than ever we must live our life unconsciously with God. We must be so connected to God and His Kingdom that His life simply pours from us. God is not something we put on. When you try to wear Him those around you can smell it. Perhaps that’s where the term “Pews” came from.
Oswald Chambers puts it like this: “Stop being Self-conscious, stop being a sanctified prig and live the life hid with Christ.”

I was in church too… the courtyard with some wonderful little children that really needed someone to play with. Nothing is better than a 2yr old you hardly know, putting their head in your lap and saying, “I Wuv Yooo” . Just because you took a moment and played…
