There is something buried deep inside each one of us that seeks to find great adventure. I wonder sometimes whether that’s not part of the reason so many people are so bored with their lives. We get comfortable and fail to step outside ourselves, for just a few days, and look at the possibilities. Sometimes you have to get away. Sometimes you have to get out of your neighborhood, your social circle and the things you are good at and find something new. Alaska gave me that opportunity. Watch.

Living in Eugene, Oregon, where animals are almost equal to humans, imagine my surprise to see a

Furrier while visiting Alaska.
Jess and I walked into the store, and here is this old man, who has been creating clothing, out of fur and pelts, for most of his life.
He had a Beaver Pelt in the store that was the softest thing I have ever felt. He had fox, wolf, beaver and all sorts of creatures.
He even showed us a picture of President Ford wearing one of his coats made out of a wolf hide.

He showed us an Elk Hide and told us that this guy was good with the ladies. How could he tell? Experience. He knows that the cow bite the bull on the neck

when they like them. You figure out the rest.
It was funny because Jess and I could not stop listening to the old guys stories. He was trying his best to sell and we were having a great time just listening.
Oh, Jess and I ran into these guys on the streets of Anchorage. Couldn’t resist taking a picture. And Look who I ran into in the store in Alaska.

I’m not the worlds greatest fisherman, that would be my son Jess. He’s the kind of guy who will slip out
of the house, head down the road to the Mckenzie River, get his fishing rod out of the truck and fish. On our recent (July 2010) trip to Redoubt Mountain Lodge I got an understanding of why he loves fishing so much.
I have never been to a place like the Redoubt Mountain Lodge. This is as remote as you can get. But the
nice thing is it’s not roughing. They have a lodge, great food, running water, beer on tap and the best fishing in the world. Sit back and enjoy the scenery and then book a trip. You will not be sorry.

There is no better place in the world to fish than Alaska. We got some great tips from our guide at the Redoubt Mountain Lodge in Lake Clark National Park. Watch.
