Okay we were taking a chance; Tyee Landing was mentioned as a place to get food on our recent bike ride. We looked at map and made sure they that were open.
After 30 miles winding along the Umpqua River in a headwind we were more than ready for lunch. We found Tyee Landing only .2 mile from intersection of Tyee Rd. & Hwy. 138.
We sat out on the back deck overlooking the river. Memoree Madison, Owner, was waiting on us. Their restaurant is the only public place with a view along most of the Umpqua River. Nothing fancy but clean, the inside has nice wood table and chairs.
Now lets get to the food, we both ordered the club sandwich with side salad. What a great surprise to find the leanest bacon, piles of warm roasted turkey, cheese, lettuce, onion, & tomato inside sourdough bread. I mean it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere having the most decent sandwich for such a great price. Only thing bit strange was reaction we got upon entering with our water bottles; they have to pay for their water and are very protective of it.
Russ & Memoree Madison your place is great, made our ride all that much better, thanks for the great food. With bellies full we tackled the hills back to Sutherlin on Hwy 138.
For the fishermen: Tyee Landing also offers fishing supplies, ice, cold beverages and shuttle service.
